Eos is not a goddess but she is the dawn. She wakes everyone up at dawn and sprinkles dew on trees. Her husband was the prince named Tithonus who turned into a grasshopper. Her sons are the four winds, Zephyr, Boreas, Euros, and Notus. Eos's sisters are Helios, the sun, and Selene, the moon. Eos is the daughter of Hyperion and Theia also known as Pallas and Styx. It is a mystery that Tithonus and Eos had two children named Memnon and Emathion. Eos had an unsure Roman name. The majority think that her Roman name is Aurora. Others think it is Thesan. Some even think it is Matuta. Eos became popular for young love at Etruria in the fifth century. |
